Digital ministry says prepares to liberalize advertising

MOSCOW, Apr 29 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Digital Development Ministry is preparing initiatives to liberalize advertising and will discuss prescription drugs, alcohol, and some sports events, Deputy Minister Alexei Volin said on Wednesday.

“As to the state policy and the government’s attention to the (communications) industry, I can say what we’re ready for. We’re certainly ready for dialogue with the industry. We’re certainly ready together with the industry to expand the spheres of its activities, including further liberalization of advertising,” Volin said during a discussion.

“We’ll certainly discuss the matter of advertisements of prescription drugs, alcohol products, and possibly we’ll think of sports events like the sports poker or something of the kind.”

The ministry will never welcome compulsory state professional standards in media, Volin said.
